Nintendo - Wii Fit

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

The Nintendo Wii is one of the most revolutionary gaming systems available. While up and down arrows on a remote typically let you navigate a character on screen through mazes, dragons and underwater assaults, the Wii gives you real-time interactivity with a character you create yourself. Rather than sitting back in a beanbag for hours on end, the Wii not only encourages, but nearly requires, players to get up on their feet and move. Quite the opposite of traditional video games.

The Wii Fit is the newest game players can add-on to their Wii gaming machines. Using a balance board that plugs into the Wii, users can follow along and do real exercise like Yoga, Aerobics and Squats. These exercises concentrate on strengthening your core, and thanks to a pressure-sensitive board, you can watch yourself on screen. While the board is picking up your motions, it’s also recording the number of calories you burn, monitoring your BMI and recording how your strength increases. Over time, you can look back at your progress.

The Wii not only makes a great fitness experience for yourself, but it’s something the entire family can get involved with. While you weren’t likely to haul your kids and spouse into your yoga or aerobics class, you can invite everyone into the living room for group-participation Wii Fit.

Family Thanksgiving Activities

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

If you’re hosting a family thanksgiving, you want to create a fun family environment that helps children understand the importance of thankfulness and reminds the adults of this as well.

Since Thanksgiving comes just before what many refer to as the “greedy” season, activities designed to remind people of the bounty in their lives are useful. For example, you might help children understand that while they don’t have everything they want, they do have everything they need.

How do you do this? Several ways. One is to help children create a cornucopia, which will sit on the Thanksgiving table. There are a variety of ways to do this. You can make a papier-mâché cornucopia using a balloon as the base to help you get the shape started. You can simply take large piece of poster board and shape them into a cone and fill those with whatever you like. As an extra activity, you can have the children decorate the cornucopia before it gets filled.

Since the idea of the cornucopia is to celebrate a bounty and appreciate that bounty, you can fill it as is traditionally done with squash, corn and the like. You might also ask each member of the family to bring something that represents their personal bounty in life. A new mom might bring a baby blanket to put in the cornucopia while a newly retired grandpa might add a picture of his family, since that’s what’s most important to him. You can discuss the items in the cornucopia basket at the dinner table while enjoying your Thanksgiving feast.

Another family activity that kids like is the thankfulness jar. When each person arrives at dinner, they place a note with something they are thankful for in the jar. Ideally, each person will add more than one item to the jar. At dinner, someone (ideally, the matriarch of patriarch of the family) reads the notes. Everyone tries to figure out who wrote which note. The items can range from the serious (someone who struggled with an illness in the previous year might be thankful for life, quite simply) to the silly (the new mom might be thankful there’s a Starbucks within 5 minutes of her home). Kids enjoy adding their own touches to the thankfulness jar and their responses are often a surprise to the adult family members.

Some families have several tables set about at Thanksgiving. Many people buy professional floral arrangements to decorate the tables. You can make a game out of it to figure out who’s going to get to bring home the table arrangement to their home. You can do the old wedding thing and simply put a number on the bottom of the centerpiece and have someone’s chair match that number or you can make a game and perhaps create a trivia game out of Thanksgiving facts. For example, questions might look like this:

*How many turkeys are cooked on Thanksgiving throughout the US?
*Why are turkeys called turkeys?
*Which president set aside the last Thursday in November as Thanksgiving?

Be sure you research and know the answers and then quiz everyone. This is a great way to pass the time while everyone is waiting for the feast to be ready. Just tell the winners they can’t take the centerpieces until dinner is over!

You can have a similar game before dessert. Create a family trivia game and quiz family members before dessert. Only the people who get the answers right get to have their dessert. Everyone else has to keep trying until they get their trivia question right. Questions can range from the silly to the sublime. They might look something like this:

*Who got popcorn stuck in her braces at 12?
*Which man here wore boots with big holes in them until he was 20 and could buy his own?
*Whose grandparents immigrated to the US from Ireland?
*Which boy here got suspended from school for riding his bike into the classroom?

Bus Simulator 2008 Demo - The challenge of being a bus driver in the city

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Working as a bus driver doesn’t sound like an exciting job to me; at least not exciting enough to be part of a game, where you usually play as soldier, detective, mafia member and the likes. But someone must disagree with me as now you can also pretend to be a bus driver in Bus Simulator 2008.

This game puts you behind the steering wheel of a traditional urban bus and challenges you to complete “missions”, that is, complete any of the city routes that bus must follow. But the game is not only a driving simulator, meaning you’ll have to take care of the business by deciding the price of tickets or renting the vehicle’s ad spaces to make them more profitable.

Driving a bus is not as easy as it seems at first sight: not only you have to find your way in an unknown city (note you can open the map with the M key) but you also have to stop at every single bus stop in your route, open and close the doors and follow your way to the next one. Also, don’t forget to respect road signs: I didn’t stop for any red light (too much GTA IV is seriously affecting my driving style, luckily only the virtual one) and got fired in about 5 minutes.

Graphics in Bus Simulator 2008 are just fine; quite realistic, but certainly not the best ones I’ve seen. Physics is not very elaborate, especially when it comes to crashing against objects or other cars (hey, don’t laugh at me: I’m not that bad at driving, I just have to test everything!). Other than that, it’s just an original game that seems as exciting as driving a bus in real life.

The main feature in Bus Simulator 2008 is undoubtedly its originality; apart from that, it’s just a standard driving simulator with some business management tools that may entertain you for a short while.

3 Red Lights On XBox 360 - How I Fixed The Red Ring Of Death

Friday, May 30th, 2008

So there I was, happily playing away on my XBox 360 when all of a sudden my fun was interrupted. My XBox 360 stopped working and 3 flashing red lights appeared on the front of the console.

Now I had heard of the red ring of death from a few forums but was under the impression that this had been fixed and was no longer a problem in the most recent release of the XBox 360, either I had got it wrong or maybe my XBox had been sitting in the stock room of the store I bought it from for a while and I was unlucky enough to get one of the older machines.

I tried my usual routine of unplugging and reconnecting cables and pressing random buttons. I even left it overnight in hopes that it would somehow come back to life, all to no avail.

In the end, I gave in and called Microsoft support. After a 30 minute wait I got through to an operator and found out that I would have to send my XBox back to Microsoft They also told me it would take between 30 and 60 days for shipping and repair depending upon the repair companies workload and would cost me around $150. On top of that they couldn’t guarantee that my XBox would be repairable. They even suggested that I might want to just consider buying a new one.

I was sure there had to be a quicker and easier way to fix my XBox 360 so I Started searching the internet. After a little while I came across a few guides that promised me my XBox 360 was repairable and even better, I could do it myself, in my own home and it would only take an hour or two.

So I started investing in these guides, actually bought quite a few of them knowing that I could claim a refund if they were not up to par. Some of them where poorly written with out of focus photographs and others where so complicated that you would need a degree to understand them. After ploughing through a lot of junk, I was luck enough to come across a few guides to fixing your XBox 360 that delivered what they promised, they came with easy to follow instructions and clear pictures as well as instructional videos so I could follow the process exactly before attempting it on my XBox.

I am happy to report that the 3 red lights are not showing on my XBox 360 any more and I am once again a happy gamer.

FAQ about powerlevelingspecialists

Friday, May 30th, 2008

1. What does Power-leveling specialists do?

Very simply, we provide the World of Warcraft community with various wow powerleveling services including online Gold. I know the big debates that have taken place on the World of Warcraft forums regarding the 60 and Beyond (End-Game Progression) and I tend to agree with the casual gamers argument that blizzard hasn’t done enough to provide them with rewards that match their invested time. They make it impossible for the casual gamer to possess anything of value. So for this reason I cater more to the “casual gamer”. If you can’t invest the time required into getting what the full time hard core players have the luxury of getting you shouldn’t be penalized. Let us invest the time required.
2. Do I get to keep all the loot and gold collected?

Yes, you keep it all. If you have used other power-leveling services in the past you will probably have noticed there wasn’t much if any gold or rare/epic loot at the end of the service. That’s because those companies actually take all worldly epics and transfer them to there own accounts and throw them up on the Auction House and then sell them for outrageous amounts of Gold. Its just a simple gimmick really, they will charge less for the job but you will get less and they make up for it when they sell all your good drops for tons of Gold then sell the Gold. Why do you think all the epics that are on the Auction House are being sold by level 1 alts. With us, your character keeps every rare and epic drop.
3. How long does it take to start once I send money?

Usually, the order will start right away. However, I have a lot of return customers and can get quite busy at times. Sometimes I have orders waiting in queue. This just goes to show, customers have liked my services so much they continue to come back for more. Basically all orders are started in the order they are received. If the wait times get too big I will notify you and let you know what # you are in queue and the expected ETA. Then you can either decide to wait or get a refund.
4. If I find a cheaper Power-leveling price, will you match it?

That all depends on the company and what you’re ordering. I have checked out a lot of the other companies and to be honest I was very disappointed. I am so confident in our team of specialists; I know they can out perform any WowW Powerleveling company out there. Other companies just don’t have the experienced leadership that mine does. What it boils down to is you get what you pay for.
5. Are we affiliated with any other game companies?

We are not affiliated with any other power-leveling company. In fact many companies have contacted me for partnership and I have turned them all down. However, I am affiliated with a company called Restricted Realm. This is essentially a botting/strategyguide site. Please note we do not use bots of any kind while leveling. I am just good friends with the owner of this site.
6. How do I place an order with Powerleveling Specialists.com?

We use Paypal as our main method of payment. If you do not have a paypal account you can easily get one at paypal.com . Once you have a Paypal account you can use your Credit card or bank account to deposit funds into your paypal account. Once you have decided on the service you would click “add to cart” which will bring you to our checkout. You will have to register on our site to place an order. This will provide you with updates and provide us with contact information in case there is any problems with your order. You don’t even have to send us an email to confirm as we have our automated emails respond as soon as you order.
7. Do you guys give updates?

All of our updates can be viewed through the website itself. All that is needed is for the customer to log into his/her account to check on their order status.
